EAST MEETS WEST - CHINA CLUB BERLIN

Authentic elegance sometimes hides from the public gaze, and, true to its nature, a golden nameplate is the only thing that subtly hints at the entrance to the China Club Berlin, Germany’s most prestigious private members’ club. A short passage, which literally takes you high up above the roofs of the city, leads to a world of its own: nestling between the austere stelae of the Holocaust Memorial and the classical Prussian grandeur of the Pariser Platz, Anne Maria Jagdfeld and Hong Kong-based interior designer Richard Blight has created a haven, away from the bustle and noise of the German capital. The CHINA CLUB BERLIN is an exceptional meeting place for the business, social and cultural elite. Not a business club in the traditional sense, but rather a “social club” – elegant, glamorous and cosmopolitan. And an interior design that combines valuable antiques from all the provinces of China with a modern design language. With style elements of Art Déco in Shanghai of the 30s and 40s, luxurious chinoiseries from the 19th century and modern Chinese art, the framework was created for an elegant but unpretentious lifestyle, for relaxed, yet luxurious get-togethers with family, friends, business partners and guests.

A first-class Chinese restaurant, a traditional bar, a library and seven individually designed suites for private meetings or dinners are available to members on 1,500 square meters. Each room has its own intimate character and represents the highest Chinese living and living culture. The bar is a modern interpretation of the legendary “Peace Bar” in Shanghai, offering a wide selection of cocktails and spirits. And the restaurant – the “pièce de resistance“, with old carved chairs and booths made of red leather – serves Chinese cuisine at the highest level.

Chef Tam Kok Kong from Singapore is considered one of the best chefs in Asia. “Chef Tam”, who brought his team with him from the gourmet temple “Jade”, is famous above all for his inimitable dim sums and his nouvelle cuisine, which combines classic Chinese culinary art with international elements.

The collection of contemporary Chinese art is impressive, giving the clubrooms a lively, urban and international atmosphere – the collection being one of the most important outsides of China’s borders.

With the CHINA CLUB BERLIN, a group of selected members has a place of communication, relaxation and enjoyment. The number of members is limited. It doesn’t matter whether the members come from Berlin or New York, from Munich or Beijing, from London or Silicon Valley. The CHINA CLUB BERLIN is international – a forum for encounters from East and West.

In 2020 the China Club BERLIN is expanding its club areas, to accommodate the needs of the growing club: An imposing glass conservatory is currently installed on the former rooftop terrace, with a glass roof and large sliding doors to both sides. Once completed, the CHINA CLUB BERLIN will open a second fine dining restaurant in this new space, with high-class Italian cuisine, its own bar, attractive outdoor seating and stunning views over the city.
