“DIE SATTLEREI” – THE FINE DINING STEAKHOUSE

“Die Sattlerei” (or “the saddlery” in English) has been offering one of the most exciting culinary experiences in the region since 2017 – in the midst of a historic riding school, which has also been the venue for international equestrian tournaments.

Immediately upon leaving the city in the Rhine-Main region in a northeasterly direction and continuing a short distance past fields and paddocks, long black flags with the distinctive logo indicate the small exit road on the left. This leads to the forecourt of the riding stables – the Sattlerei parking area.

The rustic surroundings are also taken up in the dining area, although elevated to a level of urban sophistication. Golden, rust-coloured and woody tones predominate. The well-stocked bar is the first thing to catch the eye, and a fine selection of international wines awaits in the wine coolers. In the summer months, the terrace in the inner courtyard is also open, offering casual fine dining surrounded by chestnut trees and extensive equestrian facilities.
You will be served in a relaxed atmosphere by a young, committed team that strives to provide you with nothing but the best in service and culinary offerings: Appetisers include fresh, classic starters with creative influences, such as USDA prime beef filet tartare, Japanese beef tataki, tuna tartare and king prawns.

The selection of main courses leaves no wish unfulfilled: international cuts such as beef fillet, roast beef, tomahawk, rib eye and t-bone from the USA, Australia, Ireland, Argentina and Canada as well as homemade Black Angus burgers. Fresh, seasonal side dishes are also served, such as mashed potatoes with truffles, green asparagus, rosemary potatoes, fries, roasted cauliflower or seasonal mushrooms as well as homemade sauces such as NYC steakhouse sauce, pepper sauce, Café de Paris butter or truffle mayonnaise.

All this is then rounded off by sophisticated desserts with an international flair, such as crème brûlée, NY cheese trifle, chocolate brownie or chocolate soufflé.

Of course, the list of beverages is also impressive: Among other things, fashionable international drinks and renowned premium wines are served. The attentive staff is happy to give expert recommendations.

Anyone who is out and about in the Rhine-Main area and is looking for a bit of relaxation with good food and premium wines should definitely stop by at the Sattlerei. Service manager Jochen Betz and operator Maximilian Neidig, who has already made a name for himself in the culinary world, have created a charming and surprising place on the outskirts of Darmstadt that offers excellent service and cuisine.
