Varvara Roza Galleries (based in London) and The Blender Gallery (based in Athens) invite our club members, partners and VIPs to a fantastic night of natural wines, art and networking. Both galleries are joining forces as they share one common goal and passion: establishing Greece’s brightest artists into the global art market and overseas brightest artists into the Greek Market. Our event will be exclusive to Club Vivanova.
Varvara Roza Galleries and The Blender Gallery are proud to present the second major solo exhibition by Philip Tsiaras “The return of THE SUPERDOT”.
This exhibition will be featuring a historic survey of paintings by prolific international artist Philip Tsiaras. The opening event will take place on Wednesday November 30th, 2022, at Varvararozagalleries, Gallery 8, 8 Duke Street, St. James, SW1Y 6BN in Mayfair.
A full-length, hardbound book entitled “The SUPERDOT”, published by Key Books, will accompany the exhibition. The New York-based artist will attend the opening. Link to view book
The SUPERDOT is a series of highly detailed, colourful Dot Portraits depicting celebrated and powerful personalities from the fields of art, music, cinema, politics, fashion, and high society. From Princess Grace Kelly, Elon Musk, Audrey Hepburn, and George Michael to geopolitical portraits such as "Chairman Mao with a Twist" and the "Trump & Putin Duet", which combines two controversial characters in one Siamese dotted body.
The SUPERDOT is also a retrospective of Tsiaras dot-related works covering three decades of the use of the Dot, focusing on the artist's personal obsession with the Horse as the primary subject.
Tsiaras idiosyncratic and heroic horses traverse time and stylistic trends resulting in a mosaic of articulated sensuality and personal eccentricity.
