LANE WEST
LaNa West is an architecture, landscape and interior design studio in Bangkok. Our team of architects, designers, economists, filmmakers, gardeners and historians starts every project from one idea: East meets West. We research Thai heritage, honour it, and carry it into the modern world with a Western eye.
Our method looks back to Siam, for centuries the crossroads of trade and culture in Southeast Asia. From the kingdoms of Lanna, Sukhothai, Ayutthaya and Thonburi to present-day Bangkok, the region has always mixed peoples, foods and beliefs. We set out to channel that energy into private residences, villas and hospitality projects. Each one is simple, beautiful and carefully detailed, and is made to be felt before it is explained.
The studio was founded by Richard Quittenton, Jan Sobotka and Lalita Suriyakan. Richard and Jan trained at Taliesin, and between them have worked with Morphosis, MVRDV, Herzog & de Meuron, Sauerbruch Hutton and UNStudio. Richard also teaches architecture in the International Program in Design and Architecture at Chulalongkorn University.
