World’s 50 Best Hotels 2026: Monaco and Thailand Among Global Luxury Hospitality Leaders

From the timeless elegance of Monte-Carlo to the dynamic luxury hospitality scene of Bangkok, Monaco and Thailand have secured prominent positions in The 50 Best Hotels 2026, one of the international hospitality industry’s most closely watched rankings.

The 2026 edition of The 50 Best Hotels was unveiled in Paris on 15 September, bringing together many of the most celebrated properties across six continents.

Two destinations stand out in particular: Monaco and Thailand.

For Club Vivanova, with its international community and expanding programme of business, lifestyle and hospitality events connecting Monaco with destinations including Bangkok, the results also highlight two markets that continue to play an important role in the evolving world of international luxury.

Monaco’s legendary Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo has been ranked No. 40 in the world, while Thailand has achieved an exceptional result with four Bangkok properties among the global Top 50 – including two of the world’s top three hotels.

Monaco’s Hôtel de Paris among the world’s finest

At the heart of Casino Square, Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo has been synonymous with Monaco’s luxury hospitality since opening in 1864.

The landmark property takes 40th position in the 2026 global ranking, placing Monaco alongside some of the world’s most established luxury hospitality destinations.

Part of Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, the five-star palace offers 206 rooms and suites and is home to some of the Principality’s most celebrated dining destinations, including the three-Michelin-starred Le Louis XV – Alain Ducasse à l’Hôtel de Paris and rooftop restaurant Le Grill.

Its inclusion is particularly significant for a country of Monaco’s size. While major international cities can support dozens of ultra-luxury hotels, the Principality has once again demonstrated its ability to compete at the highest level of global hospitality.

Thailand emerges as a global luxury powerhouse

Thailand’s performance is even more striking. Four Bangkok hotels feature in the world’s Top 50:

No. 2 – Capella Bangkok

No. 3 – Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River

No. 10 – Mandarin Oriental Bangkok

No. 48 – Aman Nai Lert Bangkok

This means Thailand not only has four properties among the world’s 50 best, but three Bangkok hotels within the global Top 10.

Capella Bangkok takes second place globally, immediately followed by Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River in third.

Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, one of Asia’s great historic hotels, takes tenth position, while the recently opened Aman Nai Lert enters the ranking at No. 48.

The concentration of internationally recognised properties in a single city underlines Bangkok’s growing stature within the global luxury travel market.

Asia dominates the upper rankings

The wider 2026 results also demonstrate the increasing strength of Asian hospitality. Rosewood Hong Kong retained the No. 1 position, becoming the first property to top the ranking for two consecutive years. With Capella Bangkok at No. 2 and Four Seasons Bangkok at No. 3, Asian hotels occupy all three leading positions. Overall, 18 Asian properties feature among the Top 50, while Europe remains the most represented continent with 21. Seven of the world's Top 10 hotels are in Asia.

The Top 10 for 2026 is:

Rosewood Hong Kong – Hong Kong

Capella Bangkok – Thailand

Four Seasons Bangkok at Chao Phraya River – Thailand

Atlantis The Royal – Dubai, UAE

Passalacqua – Lake Como, Italy

Rosewood São Paulo – Brazil

Mandarin Oriental Qianmen – Beijing, China

Upper House Hong Kong – Hong Kong

Chablé Yucatán – Mexico

Mandarin Oriental Bangkok – Thailand

How The 50 Best Hotels are selected

First launched in 2023 as The World’s 50 Best Hotels, the ranking has been rebranded in 2026 as The 50 Best Hotels, with its methodology remaining unchanged. The results are determined by more than 800 international voters drawn from the hotel and travel industries, including hoteliers, travel journalists, business travellers and experienced luxury travellers. Hotels cannot apply, nominate themselves or pay to appear on the list. Voters select properties based on hotel experiences during the relevant voting period, making the ranking a reflection of the collective experiences of a global panel of frequent travellers and hospitality professionals.

From Monte-Carlo to Bangkok

Monaco and Thailand represent two very different expressions of luxury hospitality. Monte-Carlo has built its international reputation over more than a century through heritage, exclusivity, gastronomy and some of Europe’s most prestigious hotels and events. Bangkok, meanwhile, has become one of the most dynamic luxury hospitality destinations in Asia, combining legendary institutions such as Mandarin Oriental Bangkok with a new generation of internationally acclaimed properties including Capella Bangkok, Four Seasons Bangkok and Aman Nai Lert.

Their success in The 50 Best Hotels 2026 demonstrates that exceptional hospitality can take very different forms – from the Belle Époque grandeur of Casino Square to contemporary riverside luxury on Bangkok’s Chao Phraya.

Different continents. Different cultures. Different interpretations of hospitality.

But in 2026, Monaco and Thailand both have a place among the very best in the world.
