A New Small Batch Brewery Launches on the French Riviera - the Gekko Brewing Company Based in Fayence - Borne From a Love of Craft Beer and Friendship

THE GEKKO BREWING COMPANY

Gekko Brewing Company was born from a love of craft beer and friendship. We are a craft beer brewery located in the Pays de Fayence in the Provence, Alps, Cote d'Azur region of France.

The Gekko adventure began in 2018 by brewing small batches in a garden shed, and in 2020 we moved in to our new premises ready for a full on launch in to the world of brewing. The Gekko team of five is made up from a group of family and friends with each member bringing their own passion and expertise to the team.

We try to reflect our region's natural beauty through our beers by using the highest quality base ingredients to produce a range of modern and traditional craft beers. At Gekko we believe that there is a beer for everyone. Our beers range from fresh, light and hoppy pales ales, through characterful and bold IPAs , as well as an award winning oatmeal stout.

One of our missions is to educate about the wonders of craft beer and we love doing tastings with the community showcasing the wide range of flavours and aromas that can be developed using just the four key brewing ingredients, water, grain, hops and yeast.

We also welcome people to visit our Brewery in the Pays de Fayence for tours and tastings, please check our opening times or get in touch. We would love to see you!

Club Vivanova would like to sincerely thank our attendees, the Fairmont Monte Carlo and our club partners for the support that we received to promote what seemed like an impossible task! This was truly a legendary moment during the crisis in partnership with the Fairmont Monte Carlo - commitment, determination, excellent planning with impeccable teamwork and execution.

We thank the following partners for helping us to raise awareness and funds to make the world a better place for our children to live in.. Méthode Tasmanoise - World Class Sparkling Wines Pioneered by Frenchman and Champagne Icon Louis Roederer

“It could be argued we’re completely mad growing grapes in the wild and unforgivingly cold Tasmanian environment. But there’s méthode to our madness.”

Established in 1986, Jansz Tasmania specialises in crafting luxury sparkling wines from Tasmania. In a joint venture with Heemskerk, Louis Roederer recognised the similarities of the Tasmanian climate to that of Champagne and together they planted Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines. Order Jansz Sparkling Wines online

DESTINED FOR GREATNESS

It was this foresight which led to the production of the first Tasmanian vintage sparkling wine in 1989 using traditional Méthode Champenoise; a tradition that continues today. Now Australian owned by the Hill-Smith family since 1998, the vineyard was renamed Jansz Tasmania, paying homage to Abel Janszoon Tasman who first sighted the island in 1642. Proudly Tasmanian.

MÉTHODE TASMANOISE

The climatic conditions of the Jansz vineyard rival the famed French wine region of Champagne. In fact, it was originally with French contribution that Jansz became Tasmania’s first sparkling made using the traditional Méthode.

Today we call it, Méthode Tasmanoise. It’s the essence of a partnership between the environment and our winemaker. Just as the cool Tasmanian climate creates spectacular beauty in nature, it is also instrumental in the creation of art in bottles.

The climatic conditions of the Jansz vineyard rival the famed French wine region of Champagne. In fact, it was originally with French contribution that Jansz became Tasmania’s first sparkling made using the traditional Méthode.

PERFECTLY POSITIONED

The Jansz Tasmania vineyard sits to the northeast of the island state within the Pipers River region of the Tamar Valley. This cool little corner is colloquially known as ‘Sparkling Tasmania’.

Temperatures here are moderated by close proximity to Bass Strait. The ocean breezes keep the temperature up during winter – minimising risk of frost, and down in summer – allowing our grapes to ripen slowly and develop intense, delicate and refined flavours.

Resting on a bed of pure, red, free-draining basalt soils, the Jansz vineyard truly is the perfect site to grow grapes for world-class sparkling wines.

Go Oriental this Weekend with a Metabolic Balance Recipe - Chana Dal - Packed with Pulses and Proteins

Pulses are one of the best sources of vegetable protein and are far more than just an ingredient on the winter menu. They are low-cost, a low-fat source of protein, full of fibre with vitamins and minerals and they count towards your recommended five daily portions of fruit and vegetables. A pulse is an edible seed that grows in a pod. Pulses include all beans, peas and lentils, such as chickpeas (chana or garbanzo beans).

For far too long, dishes with pulses have been considered as poor people's food. But then a number of star chefs showed, how fine the seeds of the garden fruits beans, peas and lentils can taste by serving them as a salad instead of a thick soup or turning them into noble vegetable side dishes. And even within the growing Slow Food movement, the important protein suppliers enjoy a good reputation. The legume cuisine does not get boring so quickly: after all, there are over 12,000 legumes. So regularly use various pulses and enjoy their culinary variety.

Oriental Chana Dal - a delicious chickpea curry (Metabolic Balance phase 3)

Sustainable viticulture

Cultivating excellence in cohesion with environment to ensure the best possible expression of our terroir in our cuvées, we have adopted viticulture methods which are respectful of the soil and the vine. No anti-rot treatments or insecticides, with the elimination of anti-botrytis treatments since 2000, using of pheromones against grape worms and organic fertilizers and soil conditioners. Treatments are targeted and kept to a minimum.

We only intervene where absolutely necessary to keep our vines strong and healthy. The care we take in cultivating the vine is extended to the vinification of our wines, for which we use a process as most natural as possible. We have adopted a non-interventionist approach to allow full expression to our terroirs and grape varieties. Our wines contain: no enzymes, no fining agent the lowest sulphite amount. Our thermoregulated tanks are only washed with hot water (no use of acids).

Turmeric is a relative of ginger, this vivid yellow-orange spice is common in Indian, Southeast Asian, and Middle Eastern cooking. A Great Tasting New Corporate Partner . Monte Carlo Beer - Born in the South

MONTE CARLO BEER . New Corporate Partner

THE BEGINNING
Born in the South (of France) and having always been passionate about beer, our starting point was simple: on the French Riviera there are countless beers available on the market but there are not any light and really refreshing beers. The beers that are sold are mainly Belgian and Dutch, with a pronounced taste and often heavier. That is why we came up with the idea of producing a regional beer combining lightness and smoothness.

THE CONCEPT
”Refreshing, thirst-quenching, light and easy to drink” are the key words describing this beer. In fact, these specific qualities really come from our wish to appeal to the greatest number. The beer also reflects the Mediterranean climate with its mild and refreshing taste. The main goal is to invite people to enjoy this beer in a sociable atmosphere.

We are seeking to attract both the curious and the connoisseurs. We want to introduce them to this “bière de soif” or “session beer”, which thanks to its slight if any bitterness gives a really enjoyable taste. The Monte Carlo Beer stands out in this way thanks to its unique and distinctive taste providing lightness and shared enjoyment.

PRODUCTION
The Monte Carlo Beer is brewed in the Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur region in Saint Raphael situated in the Massif de l’Esterel (Esterel mountains) by Les Brasseurs de l’Estérel (Esterel Brewers). This is a traditional brewery which uses high performance technology enabling us to attain an optimum level of quality beer. Our objective is to combine the know-how of the best artisans with the use of the local workforce and regional products. In this way we can carefully monitor the brews so as to avoid all health risks.

We are also very attentive as regards the brewing process and in this respect tests are systematically carried out by an independent laboratory which is accredited by the Comite francais d’accreditation (COFRAC) [French Accreditation Commission].
The Monte Carlo Beer recipe has been officially registered in order to protect and preserve its unique identity.

COMPOSITION
This is a light lager “Pale Ale” type beer and is a blend of three malts and three hops produced in France, top fermented, with 4.5% alcohol. All our ingredients come from sustainable agriculture.
